How the Visit Works

Four steps from Zermatt village to the platform.

  1. Check the Sky First

The product is the view. The verdict bar reads summit cloud cover live; the operator's webcams confirm it. Book the clear window.

  2. Mind the Pass Rule

Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card? You pay ~half at the lift — book direct. No pass? The online ticket locks your slot with cancellation cover.

  3. Ride to 3,883 m

About 40 minutes from Zermatt with changes — the last leg on the Matterhorn Glacier Ride is an attraction in itself.

  4. Go Slow at the Top

Real altitude: breathlessness is normal, sunscreen is not optional, and the Glacier Palace is the cool-down between platform sessions.

Two honest rules organise everything about Europe’s highest cable car station. Rule one: if you hold a Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card, don’t book here — you pay roughly half at the lift, and no reseller beats that. Rule two: the product is the view, and at 3,883 m the view answers to the weather — which is why the verdict bar above reads the summit sky live, and why the online ticket’s free cancellation is worth more here than almost anywhere.

For everyone outside rule one: the cable car ticket — 4.8/5 from 1,304 reviews at $130, Glacier Palace and the 3,883 m platform included — against roughly CHF 100–120 at the gate. What Visitors Say

4.8/5 from 1304 verified guests

"Wonderful experience! The darn clouds covered Matterhorn the whole time were in Zermatt but the weather was amazing! The Glacier Paradise was very cool (literally!) Definitely worth the trip!"

Tiffany United States

"A beautiful town, free public transportation around the town, a clear system for buying and validating tickets. Watch out for the 50 km/h speed limit from the parking lot in Taschi; they often measure speed."

Stanislav Czech Republic

"The roundtrip in the cable car was very nice. Would recommend to check the weather before purchasing the tickets or arrive early in the morning (there is live webcam for the area). We arrived in Zermatt end of morning so we managed to get to the cable car around 13:00. There were so many clouds and no visibility at all when we arrived on top. However, we still enjoyed the experience and the scenery when going up the mountains. Take into consideration that it is cold on top. Wear layers and windproof jacket."

"Fantastic trip, we had a beautiful sunny day, the views were spectacular. As much time as you want at each level- nice cafe at the summit for coffee or wine/beer and a snack before heading back down. An experience we will not forget."
